huggies 12wbt | task 2 - get real. no more excuses

task 2. the time to take full responsibility for yourself, your body and how you think.

about bloody time i stepped up and did this.

here goes. and for some reason, i've written it as tho i'm talking to myself. first sign of madness.....but i'm way past that!

internal excuses
i'm tired
it's too late
i have to clean up before hubby gets home
i'm breastfeeding, i can eat those extra calories in the form of biscuits.
i'm breastfeeding, i can eat what i want
i'll do it later
it's too late to cook. it'll be even later by the time we eat
i've already eaten badly today. might as well keep on eating badly!
girls are awake. i can't be on the treadmill while they're up.
my feet hurt. really hurt (which they do :( )

solutions
go to bed earlier!
start it as soon as you think of it. first step is always the hardest!
no you don't! if he knows you've been exercising, he won't mind the place is a mess. just help him tidy up, don't leave it all for him!
yes, you can have extra calories. from the CORRECT foods, not from bloody biscuits and tea!
no you can not. you need to eat proper, healthy, wholesome foods rich in nutrients so make sure bub gets the best quality milk.
do it now, when you first think of it!
the meals on 12wbt are quick and easy to prepare. mish has made sure of that! you've already bought the ingredients. stop being frightened of the kitchen. get of your ass and cook the meal. it's better for you body and wallet.
that's like saying 'i've dropped my phone. may as well crush it with my heel seeing how it's on the floor!' instead of picking it up. you make a mistake, acknowledge it, realise what happened leading up to the mistake and learn from it.
yes you can be. all it to be when they get to watch a movie or foxtel. i know you're trying to cut down on how much tv they watch. however given the rainy weather we've had lately, there's only so many inside activities one can do. plus, and hour will no hurt them!
i know they do. talk to husband about getting back to the podiatrist. call his office to find out costs of seeing him. start saving for that, and for the new pair of shoes.

external excuses with in my control
in-laws are coming, i need to clean the house
the girls aren't at day care. i can't do it while they're with me
scott isn't home/scott is home
the girls are sleeping. tv/treadmill are too noisy
it's too late to cook/eat
baby needs feeding

solutions
use the cleaning as another workout option. go mad at it for 10 mins etc.
you can now that you can go to the gym. this excuse is PATHETIC. use the tready on rainy days & let them watch a movie.
exercise before husband leaves. if he's home get outside for a run/walk!
see how u go having the tready going while they sleep. bug won't notice it. bubble probably will! put subtitles on
prepare the meal earlier! if it's late only eat a small amount
time your exercise better!
let them have the girls

external excuses outside my control
sick children
i'm sick
husband is sick
weather.
gym creche is closed
gym is closed

solutions
ask husband to mind them. exercise before he leaves for work. exercise while they are resting.
exercise and eat healthy. this will help you not get sick. not 100%, but it will help a whole lot more than if you eat crap and don't exercise.
encourage husband to exercise. provide healthy meals for him. encourage him to get to bed earlier.
put a fan/the air con on if too hot. it it's too cold, start moving and in no time, you'll be warmer!
ask husband/cousins to mind the munchkin and go for a run/to a class.
well it's only closed on public holidays/other significant dates. if husband is off on those days too, get out of the house and leave him with the girls.

it has started. and i haven't.

the 12wbt that is.

it began yesterday.

breakfast was yum - berry bruschetta.
lunch was turkey wrap. again yum
and dinner was my favorite - steak with avocado & corn salsa. i LOVE this meal. love it. i used to eat steak probably way too much! i'd win a tray or 2 in the meat raffles at the pub on thursday and friday nights, back in my 'young, wild, free and stupid' days!

my workout was FANTASTIC. first time at the gym since the day before bub was born.

it was hard. not super-duper hard. but hard. i really pushed myself, even though my feet were killing me and i had a stitch in my side and across the top of my tummy. but i did it....

not sure that my heart rate monitor was working properly....

but then today happened. we slept in. it was lovely, but not nice to see the time on the clock is 7:40am and that you have to leave home in an hour. or risk being late for your sanity-saver.

so i didn't eat breakfast.

and then, all during pump all i could think about was caramel tim tams.

and double coated tim tams.

so after the class i went and bought some. and some haloumi. and a bottle of fronti.

wow. sugar and fat overload.

but it's done.

tomorrow is the first weigh-in. i'll be stepping on the scales, and then getting the girls ready for day care as early as i can. and i'll be doing attack after dropping them off.

my feet will hurt. my tummy will hurt with the stitch i will most likely get. and my whole body will have DOMS from pump today.

but it will be worth it. because i will be back on track tomorrow.

i will dust myself off from today. i will finish the shopping for items i wasn't able to get last week.

and i will smash out bucket loads of calories in attack.

and i will feel AWESOME.

i will also complete the pre-season tasks. i have not had the time to sit down and listen to the properly with my full attention. which is actually quite frustrating!

Some reasons I'm smiling today

Wrote this on Friday and never hit publish! Oops....

1. Caught up with a girlfriend for a couple of hours this morning. Adult interaction, hell yeah!

2. All of our kids had a blast playing together at the playland.

3. Sabbath tomorrow. Day of 'rest' of sorts. Potluck lunch at church too - yummo!

4. Gifts for Bub - people are amazingly generous.

5. Bubble and Bug are sleeping. It's blissfully quiet!

6. Twitter. I'm in love. So much more interesting than Facebook.

7. My new books from kikki.k - gratitude and goals. Love actually thinking about what I am grateful for. And looking forward to nutting out my goals - and having them on paper!

huggies 12wbt | task 1 - introduce yourself

i said in my '26 by 26' post (which i am STILL trying to complete!) that i was going to do the 12wbt and do it properly!

it begins with 8 preseason tasks. these tasks are designed to set each person up to get the most out of the program - IF they apply themselves and do the preseason task properly. that's what i didn't do in the previous rounds. my preseason tasks with my whole heart.

this round is going to be different tho. i've only done the first task (and they're up to task 6! eek, better catch up!) which is to introduce yourself.

here's my 'intro':

Hi all,

my name is steph, 25 years old, married and mum to 3 girls.  our eldest girl is nearly 4, next girl is 2 and youngest is just 4 weeks old.

i've done other rounds of the 12wbt and this is my first huggies round.

i have joined as i love that someone else will be doing the thinking when it comes to the meals! argh, i hate trying to come up with something different for dinner each night!!  so i'm very much looking forward to the meal plans, and cooking some new meals too!

i'm looking forward to getting back to the gym as well. can't go till bub is 6 weeks old, which is going to work out well with when the program begins!  i've thought of a few fitness goals i want to aim for and achieve, so i'm pretty excited about them!

this round is all about losing a bit (ALL!) of the unwanted weight i've got and getting back into the swing of things with my exercise.  i exercised for the duration of my pregnancy (5 classes a week - pump, attack, and step) so i'm hoping i haven't lost too much of my fitness!

looking forward to getting to know everyone on here!
